Based in Hong Kong and working internationally, Francesca Marcaccio Hitzeman is an independent curator, art consultant and writer specialising in photography and contemporary art with an emphasis on cross-disciplinary and international programming.

Her professional life has brought her to live in London, New York and Hong Kong where she has worked with many institutions  and galleries on a wide range of projects. These include:  Whitechapel Gallery in London, the International Center of Photography in New York, NŌUA Atelier in Bodø (NO), the 58th Venice Biennale (IT), Flowers Gallery(HK), The Finnish Museum of Photography (SF), Double Dummy(FR), Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts (HK), Jeeum Gallery (HK/SEOUL), LeHic(Brussels), Kunstquartier Bethanien(Berlin), Savignano Photography Festival (IT), Zodo Contemporary (Milan/London), Base Project in Florence (IT),  Sin Sin Fine Art (HK), The Kaleidoscope Art Manor, Yunnan province (China) amongst others.

 In 2010 she was awarded a bursary as Iconographic Researcher and Photo Editing from the CPF Bauer Institute in Milan and  started collaborating as writer and editor with several art and culture magazines;  Dust Magazine, Paper Journal, Photomonitor UK, MyTemplArt Magazine, Archivio magazine.

She is the Editor-at-large for XIBT Contemporary Art Magazine and she is editor of the column À·TO·MO, a growing series of vibrant and unique conversations with pioneering artists working primarily with Contemporary Photography.

Marcaccio holds a Degree in Art History with a focus on Post-War and Contemporary Art and a Masters in Fine Art Photography from London College of Communication (UAL).  She received a bursary for the London Royal College of Arts Curating Programme and she was one of the recipient for the Emerging Curators Retreat program at the Otis College in Los Angeles in 2019.
