Aalto projects presents 'This is Here', at St Bartholomew The Great, a performative take and exhibition on the idea of curation and image production, involving artists in a collaborative work. We hope that it will invite creative discussions about the context around which we make and show art.

'This is here' explores medium and role boundaries in the collaborative creation of new works. Throughout the Art Licks Weekend, artists and curators respond to the peculiar space at Saint Bartholomew the Great. On Sunday, the space will be open to the public to visit the fresh exhibition.

The aim of the project is to initiate collective reflection on concepts of art space and ideas of constraints to artistic process. The exhibition will reflect different approaches to a place that is originally not dedicated to art. It may take an unexpected form, depending on the ideas arising from the conversation between the attendees.

The private view will be unique in that it presents the space without artwork and becomes the departure point, as opposed to the end point of exhibition. From this, the attendees will commence dialogue and production, leading to the public event or finnisage, on Sunday where the outcomes of the weekend will be on show.

Aalto Projects is a collective of curators working across the fields of image culture, contemporary photography and art. We seek to open up discourses on the curatorial through our own projects and collaborations with artists, makers and producers from a diverse range of cultural and critical backgrounds.
